Rabbit Hole: Black Betty
This rabbit hole travels from Ram Jam's hard-rocking 1977 cover of 'Black Betty' all the way back to Lead Belly's original 1939 recording, then journeys through American roots music, Southern rock, blues rock, and the Tulsa Sound before arriving unexpectedly at The Police's new wave classic — a 40-year odyssey across continents and genres held together by a thread of guitar-driven authenticity.
